Rock Climbing and Hiking in Joshua Tree National Park

Joshua Tree National Park is one of the premier rock climbing destinations in the world, with nearly 8,000 established climbing routes across its distinctive monzogranite formations. The park sits at the convergence of the Mojave and Colorado Deserts in Southern California, at elevations between 3,000 and 5,500 feet. Mojave Guides operates exclusively within Joshua Tree National Park. Our guides are full-time Joshua Tree residents who explore the park year-round, which means we can take you to places, hidden slot canyons, quiet boulder corridors, lesser-known climbing venues, that most visitors never find on their own.

Best times to visit for climbing and hiking: fall and spring offer ideal conditions. Summer temperatures in the high desert regularly exceed 100°F and we do not operate climbing programs during peak summer heat.

Our Commitment to Joshua Tree National Park

Mojave Guides holds a National Park Service commercial use authorization (CUA) to operate within Joshua Tree National Park. We adhere to Leave No Trace principles on every trip and actively participate in park stewardship efforts. When you book with Mojave Guides, you are supporting a small business with a genuine stake in the long-term health of Joshua Tree National Park, not an outside operator passing through.
