Who is the Choose Your Own Adventure program for?

Anyone! Mojave Guides’ Choose Your Own Adventure programs with our expert Joshua Tree guides are appropriate for all ages and skill levels. This program allows you to create your perfect half or full day in the park. Tell us which activities you are most interested in (climbing, hiking, canyons & corridors, rappelling) and we will do our best to sample them all with you. Typically a half day will be enough time to try 2+ activities, and a full day 3+.

We want to make the most out of your time in Joshua Tree National Park. There is a lot to do and see and we don’t want you to be limited to any one discipline. That’s why we offer our Choose Your Own Adventure program, where you can select more than one program that you’d like to try. Maybe you want to try a mix of hiking and rappelling. Or perhaps some rock climbing in the morning, and explore the parks’ canyons and corridors in the afternoon. The park is your oyster! Choose Your Own Adventure Days can be designed as either a 4 or 8 hour day. Our Joshua Tree Choose Your Own Adventure programs are all private and you will not be grouped with another party.

Half or full day experiences

- All necessary equipment is provided free of additional charge.
- Our guide to participant ratio is 1:4, so if you have more than 4 participants in your party you will have multiple guides, which means even more climbing!
- Choose Your Own Adventure is offered in half day (4 hours) and full day (8 hours) formats. Consider the Full Day option if you have the time, it’s a better deal than the half day!
- Our programs are set to default start times of 8am and 1pm, but we are happy to change this once you have made a reservation. Changing the start time will result in a shorter overall program in most cases because your guide is likely booked for a program after yours, and the sun sets early for much of our season.
- Our default meeting location is the Joshua Tree National Park Visitor’s Center parking lot (6554 Park Blvd. Joshua Tree, CA 92252) You will receive a booking confirmation with a map link and more details. Meeting location is flexible, please contact us to arrange an alternative
- We do not provide snacks or beverages in an attempt to keep our rates low for you. Nice “grab n’ go” lunches can be purchased at the Roadrunner Café, which is attached to the Visitor’s Center where we meet though.
- You will need to follow your guide into Joshua Tree National Park in your own vehicle, probably a half hour or less to most adventure spots
- Our days end out in the park. Keep this in mind when you’re planning. You might want to drive around and see some sights or to watch the sunset and unwind after your adventure.

Groups larger than 12 people may want to choose our Large Private Group program instead, which is offered for a lower per person price and ran at a 6:1 ratio. Please contact us for details.
